Riley was born on August 20, 2010 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Before he was born, it was discovered that he had a serious congenital heart defect. It was expected that days after birth, he would have to undergo major heart surgery. However month after month, he continues to do so well that surgery was pushed off until he was a little older. Now that he is approaching his first birthday, Riley and his parents will be making the trip to Children's Hospital in Boston to undergo surgery to correct his heart defect.
His surgery is scheduled for Wednesday, February 22 at Children's Hospital in Boston. He will be treated and cared for by the nation's top pediatric cardiolgy and surgery department. His parents will stay with him throughout his expected month long stay at the hospital, while grandparents and other family members will be staying in Boston until he is stable.
Riley's family needs support for their month-long stay in Boston. A fund has been opened up and fundraising has been started to help support the family. Donations will be used to get the family to Boston, to pay for their stay, and necessities such as food while they are staying with Riley.
